On October 25–26, 2013, NiƱo Manaog, extension associate of the Capiz State University, facilitated the Campus Journalism Seminar Workshop to some 30 members of The Highland Echo, the official publication of the Mambusao National High School (MNHS) in Brgy. Tumalalud in Mambusao, Capiz.

Conceptualized by Mr. Freden Delgado, adviser of The Courier, the official publication of the CapSU Poblacion Campus in Mambusao, Capiz, the activity featured lectures and workshops in news writing, copy-reading, feature writing and editorial writing.

To draw the skills from the participants, Manaog employed hands-on approach in teaching the concepts by providing more exercises and drills for the students. He also engaged the active participation of all students through interviews, mini-debates and other techniques.

After they were given various writing models, student writers were asked to write news articles, features, and editorials in varied writing drills and activities.

To inspire more students to excel in campus journalism, the organizers saw to it that the best-performing student writers in said writing skills actvities were duly recognized and awarded certificates of citations at the end of the program.

Prof. Virginia Magbanua, English program chair and Ms. Lady Marynille de la Cruz, English faculty, both of CapSU Poblacion Campus, served as judges for the said writing contests.

Organized in coordination with Ms. Emily Sibug, The Highland Echo adviser and Mr. Rolando Ricardo, MNHS principal, the activity was supported by Dr. Lilibeth Leonor, CapSU Poblacion campus administrator.
