400 farmers given urea fertilizers by Dumalag FITS Center
The Dumalag Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center awarded bags of urea to their farmers on January 31, 2012 at the DumalagFITSCenter in Poblacion, Dumalag, Capiz. Under its Rice Ratooning Program, the urea fertilizer is being given to some 400 farmers beneficiaries from the 19 barangays of Dumalag, Capiz. The recipients were rice farmers who were given either a half sack (25 kg) or one sack (50 kg) of Urea fertilizer to provide for the nitrogen requirement in their farms. According to Bernie Protacio, information services specialist of DumalagFITSCenter, the farmers are taught technologies in rice ratooning which they can use to maximize the opportunity given to them. No less than Mayor Lilia Castro of Dumalag personally led the distribution of urea fertilizer to the beneficiaries. The DumalagFITSCenter is composed of active agricultural workers including Ms. Ronelyn De Tomas, municipal agriculturist and manager; Ms. Teresita Badilla, technology services specialist and Mr. Bernie Protacio, information services specialist; and Gerlie Catalan, 4-H coordinator.
