The Evolution of the CapSU R&D Journal

Like in most institutions, research publications begin small and modest. These publications grow together with the institution and expand to accommodate bigger and progressing sensibilities, often producing more responsive studies and initiatives that seek to improve the lives of the community where the institution is based.

Through the years, the PSPC Journal, which first appeared in 1983 published by then Panay State Polytechnic College (PSPC), has undergone a number of editorships, now and then featuring a wide range of studies and research that cannot fail to assist and usher in a new breed of research minds who can help boost the progress of the community.

By the time PSPC became Capiz State University in mid-2000s, the research publication has already assumed a number of different faces under the different editors and leaders of research in this institution. Yet, the publication’s readership has not at all changed, perhaps only expanded to accommodate more audiences, researchers, scientists, scholars or otherwise. And when the 13th volume was released in 1999–2000, the publication was granted an ISSN 00189-7700-5.

As perhaps envisioned by Dr. Paz Ramos, the first editor-in-chief of the publication, “the value of research can never be overemphasized.” For the school of tradition, research work is the “lifeblood of educational institutions, a potent instrument for positive change. It is man’s expression of hope that he can move forward to a better quality of life.”
